Pilot Confirmed Dead In Blue Angel Crash

AIR SHOW DISASTER STRIKES SOUTH CAROLINA

FITSNews - April 21, 2007 - Emergency personnel are confirming that the pilot of a Blue Angels‘ precision flight aircraft is dead following an air show crash in Beaufort, South Carolina this afternoon.

The crash, which occurred shortly before 5:00 PM, is said to have impacted several homes along Pine Grove Road outside of Beaufort - about a half mile from the Marine Corps Air Station. No information is available at this time regarding the identity of the pilot or the status of possible casualties on the ground.

The Blue Angels are a U.S. Naval Flight Demonstration Squadron of F/A 18 Hornet aircraft based at the Pensacola Naval Air Station. The team, which was famously showcased in the 1986 Van Halen video “Dreams,” has flown in front of over 400 million fans since its inception in 1946.
