LEATHERMAN “CLOSEST THING TO THE MAFIA WE HAVE IN SOUTH CAROLINA”

FITSNews - April 5, 2007 - The State Executive Director of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) blasted powerful Senate Finance Chairman Hugh Leatherman (above - littlest digger) today, calling the diminuitive State Senator “the closest thing to the mafia we have in South Carolina.”

S.C. NAACP Director Dwight James made the comment this morning in response to questioning from FITSNews regarding the ongoing competitive grants scandal, a process by which millions of taxpayer dollars have been doled out by Leatherman and House Ways & Means Chairman Dan Cooper with little to no oversight or accountability.

You know, we’re really not sure what we like most about this story - the fact that South Carolina’s crookedest politician just got called out by the NAACP? Or the fact that we found a picture enabling us to refer to Leatherman as the “Littlest Digger?” Because both are pretty solid if you ask us.
