This is too much. Mitt Romney must be getting cards printed up at this point with "______ would make a great VP candidate!" and have them filled in by the host committee when he gets to an event now, for anybody who thought he might be able to overcome the "Mormon" and win the 'conservative birth,' he may well have been able to, but for his sheer inability to stick to a single position.

FITS, the part about "this guy even flip-flops about whether or not to name names" classic...and quite apro pos.

Romney's done. He's got about 120 days left until he drops out. I may be wrong but, didn't he mention Jeb Bush as well possibly being a VP? Let's face it, no one is buying what Mitt Romney is selling. Voters love strength and hate wishy-washy politicians, especially Republican voters. And no one does wishy-washy, flippy-floppy like Mitt Romney.

First and foremost no matter what you think of Jim DeMint or Sandford as Presidential timber the most hilarious thing about this is that anyone, and I mean anyone, would possibly to assert, claim or insinuate in anyway that Romney's decision to name these fella's has anything whatsoever to do with the fact that they are both from SC, and early primary state (note: I am being sarcastic). At this point I think it is safe to assume that if one of the early primares were held in 1939 Germany, or Melmack (the fictional planet) that Romney would declare Hitler or Alf respectively, would "make a grrrrreat VP selection! hint hint, wink, wink, nodd, hint wink nodd, grin). This is about to start getting down right silly with Romney, if I were a college kid getting in on one of those "keep 10% of the money you raise" for Romney fundraiser tours I would renegotiate to 30% or more because he seems at this point unabashed in saying whatever the heck anyone want to hear.

Second this is absolutely laughable, while a Southern Gov. from S.C. (our state holds lots'a high prestige in the nation) would be an "excellent" addition to a Republican ticket and could deliver the 'swing' state of S.C. into the Republican and deliver a tremendous 8 electoral votes with hard work, I don't know just Sandfor would add to the ticket - inexperience at political accomplishments other than winning elections, maybe, and that seems to a big thing to bring to the table now days.

Well, a "nice tan" may be the most positive thing you can bring to a race as a VP candidate. His photogenic family just adds to that.

As far as issues, the examination of his record as governor will be a mile wide (if that) but only an inch deep in a VP race. His lack of negotiation with the General Assembly would not only not be an issue, but could easily be spun as a positive in a battle of sound bites (for reference, please see the treatment of his Congressional tenure in 2002).

His strength is fiscal conservatism, which a) the other candidates drastically need to bring to their campaigns, and b) is primed to be an issue that "restores the Republican Party."

Sanford has shown repeatedly that in a battle of sound bites - which is being generous in describing a VP race - he can turn nearly anything he's done into a positive. He's a Southern Republican Governor; it's hard to outweigh what that can bring to a ticket.

A lot of qualities? Sanford? We hate to admit it, but Jim Hodges hit the nail on the head when asked in a debate back in 2002 to say something nice about Mark Sanford.

Hodges' response? "He has a nice tan."

Throwing DeMint's name in must be a joke. Although it would be fun to watch every debate/press conference be about whether Romney thinks gays and unwed mothers should be allowed to teach.

As for Sanford, I don't see where he's such an improbable candidate. He has a lot of qualities that would be positives on a more national ticket.
