FITSNews Exclusive – Lobbyist’s Name Change Shocks S.C. Political Insiders

Terence Trent D’Arby

JJ DARBY OFFICIALLY CHANGES NAME TO TT D’ARBY

FITSNews – March 23, 2007 - It may only be two letters, but switching them up has meant a world of difference to longtime S.C. lobbyist John Joseph “J.J.” Darby. Yesterday Darby, who lobbies for the Palmetto Policy Group, had his name formally changed to Terence Trent “T.T.” D’Arby.

“I’ve needed to TT – and to have that apostrophe – for a long, long time now,” Darby … sorry, D’Arby told FITSNews Friday morning. “People can say what they want but I wish me love a wishing well, to kiss and tell, a wishing well of butterfly tears. I wish me love a wishing well, to kiss and tell, a wishing well of crocodile cheers.”

“First he started wearing buttoned tuxedo jackets with no shirt and tapered pants that only came down to his calves,” said Sherry Street, a co-worker of Darby’s … sorry … of D’Arby‘s. “Next thing we knew he had dreadlocks, could sing and dance like an angel, and was an incredibly attractive African-American man.”

Yes, but… has he signed his name on any hearts lately?

It’s not THAT surprising. I saw him a few months ago hugging like a monkey see, monkey do, right beside a riverboat gambler. He kept saying he wanted to “be your midnight rambler.”

    Poor guy.
