RANKIN SEEKS TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF POP TRIO’S FAMOUS SONG

FITSNews – March 5, 2007 - S.C. Senator Luke Rankin (R-Horry) will convene hearings this week to determine the original meaning of the expression “Wang Chung.”

“I don’t have a problem saying ‘everybody have fun tonight,’ okay?” Rankin said. “But if we’re telling everybody to Wang Chung tonight, I think we ought to know exactly what that means.”

Ranking said he was eager to meet the band’s members and discuss their thinking in creating the song, which peaked at No. 2 on the U.S. Hot 100 in 1986. Rankin said discerning “Wanger’s Intent” would be key to “establishing whether we should be encouraging people to Wang Chung tonight – or any night for that matter.”

I don’t know why I live alone here.
I don’t know why we spend these nights together.
Is this the room I’ll live my life forever?
I wonder why in L.A.
To live and die in L.A.

Deep, man, deep…
