News Flash: Mitt Romney Will Win The Spartanburg Straw Poll
CANDIDATE’S SC STAFF POOR-MOUTHING PROSPECTS, BUT LOCAL COUNTY CHAIRMAN IS ALREADY IN ROMNEY’S POCKET
FITSNews - March 1, 2007 - Spartanburg County huckster (and GOP Party Chairman) Rick Beltram is probably in Kinko’s right now running ballots off for Mitt Romney’s campaign, foaming at the mouth as the mainstream press goes nuts over the importance of his GOP straw poll this evening. Beltram, who is on Romney’s SC staff according to published reports, really does make a good Igor to Romney S.C. campaign manager Terry Sullivan’s Frankenwhine.
“I assure you, we’re not expecting to win Thursday night,” Sullivan told the Spartanburg Herald-Journal yesterday. “We’re assuming that McCain or (former New York Mayor Rudy) Giuliani will win. The last public polls (have) us increasing our standing from 5 percent to 6.”
Uh, yeah. Cause that’s what you say when you know it’s in the bag. Imagine how “surprised” Sullivan will be when the results come in. Of course as Sullivan himself said back in December, “If straw polls and endorsements mattered Mark Sanford wouldn’t be governor, and Jim DeMint wouldn’t be in the Senate.”
UPDATE - Spartanburg Herald-Journal reporter Jason Spencer has an interesting blog post on the straw poll this morning, including a quote from Beltram saying, “There’s no governance on a straw poll — We can do anything we want.” Yeah.

You may not like Beltram or Romney, but I can tell you Beltram will not cheat. He is an arrogant, self-absorb, SOB, but he will not cheat.
I don’t think Romney will win this, but he won’t be at 5 or 6%.

God, only a Tompkins numbnut would think “Heywood Jablome” is still funny.
Of course, these guys were like two and a half years late to the “I’m Rick James, Bitch” phenomenon.
