SANFORD WILL NEVER MAKE IT THROUGH VEEP VETTING PROCESS, THOUGH

FITSNews – February 24, 2007 - We’ve written before about S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford’s ambitions for national elected office.

Hell, our founding editor and former Sanford spinmeister Sic Willie was the “wind beneath the wings” of those ambitions for years, frequently incorporating off-the-wall national press stunts (like getting Sanford featured on Inside Edition as “America’s Cheapest Governor”) in an effort to boost his national visibilty.

But now, after years of Sanford himself dismissing the notion publicly (while his press shop boys and D.C. consultant fanned the flames relentlessly in private), we read on The Politico where Sanford says he is “not completely ruling out” accepting the Vice Presidential nod.

Hmmmm.

No wonder South Carolina’s “maverick” governor is refusing to endorse a 2008 presidential candidate and forming state task forces on global warming.

Here’s the thing though, it’s probably not going to happen.

We’ll have more on this in the weeks and months to come, but there’s no way in hell the governor makes it through a vice presidential vetting process.

He SHOULD be an excellent candidate for national office…but he has been a failure in the gov’s office. I voted for him twice, but I know the national press will rip him, and Dan Quale will end up looking like the wizard next to our dear but incompetent gov.

He needed to be a successful gov…but is has not. He should set his sights on going back to Sullivan’s Island

Exactly how far can that stunt with the pigs take this man?

I can’t see how Jenny would add much to the ticket. There seem to be a lot of arrogant, unattractive women in DC already.

Stranger things have happened and Mark Sanford is nothing if not damn lucky.

Things are so bad in DC I don’t know why anyone would want to be associated with the infered corruption and imorality.

Sanford would be out of place in that cesspool.
