What Does “Miller Time” Do Again, Exactly?

Miller High Life

AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, WHY ARE WE PAYING FOR IT?

FITSNews – February 11, 2007 - Okay, okay, so that isn’t S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford‘s Deputy Chief of Strategery Jason Miller in the picture above.

But both gentlemen are white men. And both have brown hair.

Anyway, with the governor sitting on a $1.8 million mountain of leftover campaign money, Miller said last month that the Sanford administration would use this surplus campaign cash “to promote the legislative agenda he campaigned on, particularly restructuring, limiting spending and lowering taxes, and to assist those in the legislative process who support that vision.”

Funny, but that sounds a lot like Miller’s job responsibility, doesn’t it?

So here’s our question: Why are we paying for this?

Why is a $106,000 a year employee who as near as we can tell is responsible for doling out leftover campaign cash not also drawing his salary from that same stash? Why is our “taxpayer hero” governor charging us $106,000 a year for Mr. Miller to basically decide which legislators deserve treats for good behavior?

And the bigger question: With $1.8 million to blow on a bunch of legislators that can usually be had for much, much less, why is Sanford still completely impotent when it comes to getting his agenda through the S.C. General Assembly?
