Mayor Of Importantville Endorsing McCain
THIS SHOULD HELP McCAIN A WHOLE LOT … AT LEAST AMONG LIBERALS WHO THINK GOVERNMENT SHOULD PAY FOR GODD*MNED EVERYTHING
FITSNews – January 16, 2007 - Growing up, whenever the FITS girls went out to eat as as family we would play a little game called “Big Spender.” Upon receiving the bill, Dad would total up the cost of what everybody ordered and then announce to the group who the “Big Spender” was. Of course there was no prize for winning the “Big Spender” award, and truth be told whoever won it usually got made fun of a little bit. The winner may have even been called a little piggy.
Well, in South Carolina politics it’s no secret who the “Big Spender” is. It’s “Mayor of Importantville” Bobby Harrell, who is apparently endorsing John McCain today.
Wow. We are sure that glad-handing Democrats like Doug Jennings (pictured above with the Mayor) who think that your tax dollars and their credit cards are the same thing are probably ecstatic about this announcement, but as fiscal conservatives we are not pleased. Not even a little bit. In fact, a Bobby Harrell endorsement goes over about as well with us as a David Duke speech would have gone over at yesterday’s King Day at the Dome event.
Let’s briefly recap Bobby Harrell’s resume, shall we?
In an addition to presiding over one of the largest two-year government expansions in state history (more than a little bit of which went to help pay for his Speaker’s robe and gavel), Harrell is adamantly opposed to anything that even resembles a market-based reform. Since taking over the Speaker’s chair, he has ramrodded through the most ill-conceived tax shift in state history, given plum committee assignments to Democrats over Republicans and inserted himself so far up the education establishment’s ass that he might as well be a prescription suppository.
Oh, and he’s also a complete Whiny McWhinerson when it comes to taking criticism. Seriously, no one ever thought a House Speaker could have thinner skin David Wilkins, but amazingly, Bobby does.
So what does Bobby Harrell’s endorsement mean?
Probably not much. Unlike a U.S. Senator or a governor’s endorsement, not as many people know who Bobby Harrell is as Bobby Harrell probably wishes people knew who he is.
On top of that, endorsements in politics are pretty much useless as a vote-getting tool unless they are specifically refuting a negative or giving credibility to a candidate within a particular “voting bloc of concern.”
Harrell’s endorsement does neither for McCain in South Carolina. In fact, it’s probably half as important to McCain as the endorsement of Upstate Christian Conservative Sen. Mike Fair.
UPDATE - Looks like Bobby made sure everybody together to kiss his ass real good over the McCain thing. Vomit.

McCain will lose South Carolina. The powers that be may like him but the rank and file hate him.

McCain will lose SC. Republicans across the country tend to like McCain a lot, but unlike Republicans across the country…South Carolina republicans are dumb.

I campaigned for McCain in 2000 because he was endorsed by Mark Sanford. I also thought he was best equipped to be Commander-In-Chief. I didn’t realize that he’s a quasi-Socialist.
Tom Tancredo just threw his hat in the ring. He’s for border security, aggressively fighting Al Quaeda and replacing our punitive tax code with the Fair Tax. He’s my guy!
