John Edwards Is Flapping His Wings To The Left

FORMER VICE PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE IS ALSO TALKING A LITTLE SMACK TO HILLARY CLINTON AND BARACK OBAMA

FITSNews – January 7, 2007 - His Venerableness Lee Bandy has an excellent column in The State newspaper this morning on the leftward shift John Edwards’ 2008 campaign is taking.

Well, leftward flap is probably the more appropriate term given the perpetual motion of this man’s arms. Seriously, is John Edwards Free Bird? Is he trying to fly away or something? Does he not like it here on earth? And if he doesn’t like it here on earth, why is he running for President of the United States?

More importantly (assuming our gravitational field can hold him), can the raw source of energy that is John Edwards’ persistent arm flapping be harnessed? And used to, say, power the entire Eastern Seaboard? Through next winter? In fact come to think of it, can he lower our power bill?

Cause we would vote for him if all that flapping lowered our power bill.

Bandy – in his inimitable staccato – does not address any of these questions, but does make the point that Edwards is running a much more liberal progressive campaign in 2008 than he did four years ago, when he appealed largely to centrist segments of the Democratic electorate.

Edwards’ 2004 approach won him South Carolina, but nothing else, and as it turns out they don’t entirely trust South Carolina to pick the next President. Which is probably a good thing considering our graduation rate.

Extra special kudos go to Bandy for landing a quote from Edwards that is likely to make its way into the lockerrooms of Democratic frontrunners Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. You know, come to think of it, that was probably not the best analogy we could have used there. Hillary’s lockerroom? Yikes. Sorry.

Anyway, when asked by Bandy if he though he could keep pace with the two liberal behemoths, Edwards responded, “Bring ‘em on.”

Oh yeah. Now that’s a native South Carolinian talkin’. Fly high, Free Bird!
