It’s Official: Nick Saban Headed to Alabama
ISN’T IT ALSO AMAZING HOW WELL MIAMI DOLPHINS’ COLOR SCHEME GOES WITH THE COLORS ON THIS BLOG?
FITSNews – January 3, 2007 - Okay, this kind of thing is precisely why we were freaking out two months ago when South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier was denying published reports about taking the University of Miami job.
Two weeks after telling everyone “I’m not going to be the Alabama coach,” today Miami Dolphins’ head coach Nick Saban announced that he is, in fact, going to be the Alabama coach – to the tune of eight years, $32 million guaranteed with nearly $1 million a year in possible bowl bonuses.
ESPN has all the details on Saban’s hiring here, but this is definitely the biggest coaching move in college football since Spurrier came to South Carolina two years ago.
In addition to tangling with arch-rival Auburn and up-and-coming Arkansas each year in the SEC West, Saban also guarantees himself an annual date with the LSU Tigers, the team he led to the 2003 national championship.
