Hussein Hanged, Etc.
FORMER SHOTGUN-WAVING DICTATOR GOES TO GALLOWS
FITSNews - December 30, 2006 - Former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein was hanged at dawn for crimes against humanity along with his half-brother Barzan Ibrahim and former Revolutionary Court judge Hamad al-Bandar.
Hussein, who was responsible for the death of hundreds of thousands of Kurds, Shiites and other dissenters to his rule in Iraq, went on trial in October 2005 after being captured three years ago during the U.S.-led invasion.
CNN is reporting that Hussein went to his death holding the Koran and refused to be hooded by his executioners. The announcement of his hanging prompted outbursts of cheering as well as violence in Iraq, including a massive car bombing in Kufa that killed 31 and injured 45.
Hussein’s execution was also filmed, and American TV networks have already begun showing portions of the tape as well as film of the former dictator’s body.
