Walkin’ in Memphis
THERE ARE A BUNCH OF DUCKS STAYING AT OUR HOTEL … AND THEY’VE GOT THEIR OWN ELEVATOR AND PENTHOUSE
FITSNews – December 28, 2006 - Well, we finally arrived in Memphis and our digs at the Peabody is solid. Yo.
Of course just as we were getting settled in we heard the immediately-recognizable strains of John Philip Sousa’s “King Cotton March” and a commotion emanating from the lobby.
Sic Willie snapped a picture (above) of what happened next. Apparently these ducks have been doing this for like, seventy years, or something.
Anyway, it is pretty cool to watch them all walk in together on the red carpet, and we’re looking forward to seeing them do it again tomorrow morning.
Getting down to business, the local rag here (the Memphis Commercial Appeal) was pretty much worthless when it came to Liberty Bowl news because apparently while we were driving here from South Carolina the NBA team in Memphis fired its head coach.
We were unaware Memphis even had an NBA team, but then again we didn’t know about the cool ducks they have here, either.
The little bit of Liberty Bowl news they did have included a puff piece on Houston Cougars’ quarterback Kevin Kolb and a puff piece on South Carolina’s jack-of-all-trades Syvelle Newton.
