PRESIDENT WHO ENDED “LONG NATIONAL NIGHTMARE” PASSES AWAY AT NINETY-THREE

FITSNews – December 27, 2006Gerald R. Ford, who was never elected President or Vice-President yet served for 895 days as the nation’s Chief Executive after the Watergate Scandal, passed away Tuesday evening.

Linked forever to the man he succeeded (and pardoned), President Richard M. Nixon, Ford survived two assassination attempts during his brief Presidency and was the last surviving member of the Warren Commission, which investigated the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Ford’s passing leaves Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton as America’s only living ex-Presidents.
