Can Indy Finally Win The Big One?

ALL COLTS FANS WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A SUPER BOWL WIN

FITSNews – December 24, 2006 - For long-suffering fans of the Indianapolis Colts, the most painful part of the Holiday Season is reliving the Ghosts of Playoff Losses Past.

Seriously, it’s like watching an M. Night Shyamalan movie.

We see 1995, and quarterback Jim Harbaugh lofting a Hail Mary into the end zone of Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh, only to watch the ball fall in – and then out of – wide receiver Aaron Bailey ‘s breadbasket, allowing the Steelers to escape with a four-point victory.

We see the hated Steelers again in last year’s rearview mirror – only now it’s their quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger , grabbing just enough of Colts’ DB Nick Harper‘s shoestrings to keep him from scoring the game-winning touchdown.

And, of course, in between these Steeler bookends we see Patriots. Lots and lots of Patriots. We see them most often in our snowflake-filled nigthmares of Foxboro, where Tom Brady famously outdueled Peyton Manning in consecutive playoff showdowns en route to two of his three Super Bowl wins.

We also see the abject humiliation of a 41-0 playoff loss to the New York Jets.

Yes, the Jets.

All this playoff futility hurts. It hurts bad. Like when Reese Whitherspoon‘s character Melanie visits Bear’s grave in the coon hound cemetary in Sweet Home Alabama.

Lord, that always makes us cry.

Yes, we were a little too big to sit on your lap this year, Santa. But that doesn’t mean we stopped believing in you. And we’ve been VERY good this year.

Please send the Colts a Super Bowl. It’s all we want for Christmas.
