STAR GAMECOCK RECEIVER SYDNEY RICE PLANNING ON STAYING AT USC FOR JUNIOR YEAR – BUT HASN’T RULED OUT NFL DRAFT

FITSNews – December 19, 2006 - Great.

First a week of indigestion last month worrying about whether or not South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier was leaving for the University of Miami job and now this.

Sydney Rice has had two amazing seasons at South Carolina and one day is clearly going to follow in the tradition of Sterling Sharpe, Robert Brooks, Marcus Robinson and Troy Williamson as Gamecock wide receivers who became impact players in the pros.

We just hope that day will come AFTER his junior year at South Carolina, where the pieces finally seem to be coming together for an SEC Championship run in 2007.

In case you were wondering, FITSNews will be making the trip to Memphis December 29 for the Liberty Bowl to watch Sidney and the Gamecocks (7-5) take on quarterback Kevin Kolb and the Conference USA Champion Houston Cougars (10-3).

Hopefully, we won’t be watching this talented receiver’s last game in garnet and black.
